The short version: after fifty years outside the union, Richmond Elevator (BC's largest independent) was certified with Local 82 in September 2024. Twenty months on there's still no first contract — and the dispute has pulled in both the BC Labour Relations Board (a narrow bad-faith bargaining finding over withheld pension info) and the province's pension regulator. Two LRB proceedings are set for June 1, 2026.
